Implant connection types: conical, hex, trilobe

The implant-to-abutment connection type is a key compatibility parameter. In the catalog, implants are tagged with their connection type, which you can filter by and use to find analogs.

Main types

Conical (Morse taper): a tight self-locking fit with good sealing and load distribution.

Internal hex: a common design with an anti-rotational hexagon inside the implant.

External hex: historically the first mass-market type, with the hexagon protruding above the platform.

Trilobe and tri-channel connections: proprietary geometries of specific systems.

Why it's in the catalog

Knowing the connection lets you search libraries of the same type (the “Connection” filter in search) and find analogs from other brands with similar geometry — handy when switching systems or matching compatible components.
