Formats and installation
Libraries are usually distributed as ZIP archives containing teeth folders, XML configuration files and PNG previews. The standard install path is DentalCADApp\library\teeth\<manufacturer>\<line>. After copying the files, restart DentalDB and verify that the brand appears in the tooth selection dialog of the Full Denture module.
Mind the version: libraries optimised for exocad 3.x (Galway, Rijeka) may misbehave in older Plovdiv or DentalCAD 2019 builds. Manufacturers typically publish a compatibility matrix alongside the archive.
Workflow inside Full Denture / DentureCAD
A typical digital protocol: scan the jaws and bite records → define occlusal plane and smile line → choose a library and mould based on facial form and ridge size → run automatic setup followed by manual refinement → model the base and gingival contour → export STL for printing or milling the base and fitting physical teeth, or mill a monolithic denture.
In monolithic mode, both teeth and base are milled from multilayer pucks (e.g. Ivoclar IvoBase CAD or VITA VIONIC). In a bonded workflow, exocad automatically generates inverted sockets that match the selected library mould — crucial for accurate seating and minimal chairside adjustment.
Practical tips for choosing a library
Match the CAD library to the physical tooth sets your lab actually stocks — a digital library is meaningless in bonded scenarios without matching prefabricated teeth.
For monolithic dentures, prefer libraries validated for specific multilayer pucks: aligned anatomy and shade gradient yield a better aesthetic outcome.
Maintain an internal catalogue of installed lines mapped to manufacturer SKUs — it speeds up communication with the clinician and material ordering.
